Greasemonkey 0.8.5 Release

Greasemonkey 0.8.5 is a maintenance release, with these fixes and improvements:
  • Add an abort() method for GM_xmlhttpRequest. (#1007)
  • Increase compatibility with bleeding-edge Firefox versions. (#1054)
  • Display a "welcome" page to new users when they install. (#1006)
  • Fix hooking into the console object for Firebug 1.5.
Thanks very much to our users on the mailing list that caught a few issues in the release candidates.

I don't understand how using "0.8.5" is okay for the blog, but officially, you use the convoluted "0.8.20100211.5".

Makes no sense whatsoever.

Are there any plans to implement a toolbar button? I’ve been wishing for one for quite some time. Greasemonkey is the only reason I still have the Status bar enabled.

+1000 for having a toolbar button!!!

PLEASE! Thank you!

@Toolbar idea:

I keep everything in my status bar, I like having my navigation toolbar for just that: navigation. I wouldn't like to see GM clutter the toolbar at all.

It would be best if it were done like AdBlock Plus does it: two check items to have it shown in one, both or none.

I installed 0.7.2008121.0 in order to run some scripts. Today, when I upgraded to Firefox 3.6 I naturally went to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ to upgrade all of my addons, but now 0.7.2008121.0 won't uninstall. HELP!

@Anonymous:

That’s exactly the point. I have four other extensions that add something to the Status bar. Every single one of those provide an alternate toolbar button that one can add or remove via the Customize Toolbar dialogue. It’s only Greasemonkey that forces me to enable the Status bar.

Have you already noticed that Greasemonkey no longer works with the latest version of Mozilla Minefield?

My old FF crashed and installed the newest version, then reinstalled Greasemonkey and my userscripts. Now, I can't use the Preferences in my userscripts at all. Will not open! Everyone that has the old version is working fine. Seems like your improvements have messed things up. Can this be fixed?????? I use the userscript for Sorority Life..aficiando vote for all.
