Greasemonkey 0.6.9: gm_scripts directory bug gone forever?

Download Greasemonkey 0.6.9

Anthony has made a change in this release which will hopefully end the issue which keeps popping up of the gm_scripts directory not existing.

Other interesting bits in this release:

  • You can now reorder the scripts in the manage dialog with drag+drop or the arrow keys
  • You can now use Firebug's console object to debug Greasemonkey if you have Firebug installed.
  • Fix bug where install dialog would pop up when Greasemonkey is disabled

Thanks for the drap&drop feature but... there's a significant bug when draggind an item you just dragged through the list; it's dragging the wrong item... :p

Yep, that's what I'm seeing, too. The drag and drop thing scrambles the whole list and the seperator line is anywhere but there where you are dragging. Good idea but definitely needs polishing.

Reordering also seems to have caused a number of installed scripts to get dropped from the gm_scripts dir's script.xml file (so that they're no longer installed).

Just so people know...I had the same problems until I removed the gm_scripts folder, config and all, and let the upgraded extension recreate it. Then I reinstalled my scripts, which took no time at all, and all was well. :)

ZOMG this update deleted all my userscripts and settings (again).

My gm_scripts were previously under the plugin's GUID folder, and now they are completely gone.

Clicking to install a new script from the drop down toolbar button doesn't cause the script to be installed. Had to revert back to the previous version. Firefox 2.0.0.3 Ubuntu Fiesty Fawn Linux

I'm encountering the same issues with being unable to install new scripts. I'm using a fresh install of XP Home, Firefox 2.0.0.3 and dropped in Greasemonkey 0.6.9

The old install bar appears instead of the new install popup window. When I click the install button, nothing happens at all. I reloaded Firefox, but that didn't improve anything. Finally I uninstalled 0.6.9 and then installed the preceding iteration of 0.6.8.x and it works just fine.

also having the same problem with dragging scripts. scripts are also being dropped from the gm_scripts xml file however the script still exists in the folder (i then have to delete the script to reinstall it) even when left alone for days.

it's nothing but this new version of greasemonkey causing the problems.
not firefox or your OS, just this greasemonkey thing

Upgraded to 6.9 (btw, firefox did not notify, had to look for updates)

and it removed the majority of my settings and scripts and won't allow new installs. Lovely.

ver 0.6.9 is SUCK! ever! grrrr...!!

The last version introduced the following very annoying bug:

Last script in list removed when uninstalling a script

Please fix this!

The scripts vanished but only from Manage Scripts dialog - they are still located in %AppData%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\[a-z]{8}.default\gm_scripts\ so you can easily retrieve them. Just move files to other dir and install them again.

But what I'd like to see is frickin option to suppres countdown in installation dialog! Do you know how much time we waste while developing scripts? Please, introducte that to Gmk 0.6.9.1! :/
