Though still in the review queue on mozilla update, 0.5.3 is available for download directly from userscripts.org right now.
This update solves the problems with migration from 0.3.5 that some people where having with 0.5.1. It also fixes the "Install User Script" menu item always available bug that pissed a lot of people off.
I'm still working on improving the injection system, which will solve all the random injection problems people are having. This will show up in Greasemonkey 0.6.

Script injections are not working any better under 0.5.3 than they were under 0.5.1. If there was some "improvement", I can't see it.

Why should I perform a workaround on a pushed update that should be working properly in the first place?
Heh, you don't have to.
If you want to use Greasemonkey, and you happen to be having this problem, then you have the option to use this workaround.
If you don't want to, aren't able to, or whatever, then don't. No skin off my back.

I'm still having sporadic crashes since I updated to GM 0.5.*. Disabling all scripts doesn't work. Disabling GM yes.
Any tips on how to do a better debugging?
The old scripts I have encountered not to work in the 0.5.x series all hooked up their code on the pageload event handler. Changing them to just run the code right at injection time, along with a boiler plate to avoid being executed more than once fixed the problems. I have GM 0.5.3 riding on FF 1.0.6 and XP Home. The scripts are still not loadable. I tried the fix but the target folders were not in my directory so I created them. Firefox would not launch.
